projections
Throughout history dreams have been a sacred space for transformation and wisdom that can benefit our waking life in many ways.
Coinciding with this years Burning Man theme "Waking Dreams,” in 2022 we returned to the Playa with our acclaimed projection mapping experience Vessel of Light.
We invited international digital artists to be a part of this Waking Dream by displaying their dream themed film and video art work on the 71 foot tall illuminated Grand Pyramid. We used 3 x 32,000 lumen projectors to precisely video map the pyramid structure. With this giant canvas, we curated and presented nightly multi-media experiences for the citizens of Black Rock City.
We invite you to be a part of this monumental scale media project at the worlds largest art event!

art
If build is the bones of PlayAlchemist, art is our beating heart.
Our biggest contribution to artistic expression at Burning Man is a 71’ tall canvas that’s 110’ wide x 110’ long. It’s a pyramid that both serves as a daytime programming venue for transformative workshops, and as a music and performance venue for renowned and emerging artists. It also serves as a playa-wide navigation beacon and refuge during dust storms. Lastly, it’s a showcase for mind-blogging projection mapping by creatives from across the globe.
In addition to the Big Pyramid, our 2nd small scale pyramid, hosts our projectors. In 2022, it also served as a backdrop for our external sound stage for multi-thousand person musical experiences directly on the playa in front of our camp.
Beyond the boundaries of our camp, in 2023 we’ll be funding art projects across the playa. If you are a Burning Man approved art project, please submit our Artist Grant application and we’ll be in touch if/when we have funds we can grant to you.
